Paris Couture Week : AZZOPARDI’s Salomé Celebrates Couture as Cultural Memory

For Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2026–2027, AZZOPARDI unveils Salomé, a collection that explores one of history’s most enduring feminine archetypes through the lens of craftsmanship, mythology and contemporary design.

Creative Director Luke Azzopardi approaches Salomé as a cultural icon whose presence has inspired centuries of artistic expression across literature, painting, opera, cinema and fashion. Rather than revisiting the past, the collection reinterprets these influences through a distinctly modern couture language.

At the heart of the collection lies the symbolism of the veil. Through intricate textile manipulation and exceptional artisanal craftsmanship, veils are deconstructed and reassembled into sculptural silhouettes that blur the boundaries between structure and fluidity. Every look becomes an exploration of texture, volume and movement.

By bringing together the mythology of the Seven Veils and Malta’s traditional għonnella, AZZOPARDI creates an unexpected dialogue between Mediterranean heritage and contemporary couture. The collection reflects on how garments preserve cultural narratives while continually evolving through new forms of expression.

Founded in 2019, the independent Maltese couture house has become known for its research-driven approach, where historical craftsmanship meets experimental construction. With Salomé, Luke Azzopardi delivers a collection that positions haute couture as both an artistic discipline and a living archive of culture, craftsmanship and innovation.
